Our project explores the physics of room-temperature ionic liquids, which hold promise as the next-generation electrolyte for supercapacitors used for energy storage. Using x-ray characterization, nanofabrication, and simulation tools, we will provide experimental data on the structure of these liquids under nanoconfinement, which can be applied to enhance future supercapacitor designs.
