Unconventional Superconductivity in a Focused-Ion-Beam-Decorated Topological Insulator

Executive Summary

We will investigate topological superconductivity in a topological insulator induced by deposition of platinum thin films via a focused ion beam. If successful, this method for creating superconductivity may prove capable of hosting a Majorana bound state, which is one of the basic building blocks for a fault-tolerant topological quantum computer.
