Development of Additive-Manufacturing Inks with Embedded Electronics for Programmable Matter

Maxwell Murialdo | 19-LW-056

Executive Summary

We will develop a novel feedstock for additive-manufacturing ink incorporating an embedded, self-assembled network of active electronics that will provide fully internal and printable signal-control for three-dimensional printed products. If coordinated with shape-memory polymers, this signal-control ink could form printable programmable matter with actively tunable mechanical properties (shape, color, charge state, porosity, density, temperature, chemistry, and sensing properties) for broad application across the national security mission space.
