On May 27–28, 2015, DOE/NNSA program managers from Laboratory/Site Directed Research and Development and Livermore Field Office managers and personnel attended a review of the Livermore LDRD program.
An overview of the Laboratory as well as the LDRD Program was presented by Laboratory LDRD Program leaders, which provided investment areas, allocated funding, project breakdown, the selection and review processes, project highlights for several mission areas, and metrics for the FY15 program. Individual project presentations were also given by LW, ER, and SI principal investigators, highlighting project relevance, background, progress, and significant accomplishments. In addition, a tour of an experimental facility performing LDRD research was conducted for a first-hand look at additive manufacturing and multifunctional material capabilities. Overall comments from the exit briefing were very positive, and an NNSA summary report was issued in September 2015, which concluded that, “In general, the LDRD program is transparent, well managed, effective, efficient and complying with applicable requirements of the DOE/NNSA and LLNL. Both LFO and LLNL have appropriate oversight over the program.”
