Modelocked Oscillator with Planar Gaussian Optics

Executive Summary

This project will combine ultrafast laser technology and microfabrication to create an ultrashort-pulse laser-on-a-chip. Being small, portable, stable, and inexpensive, this new laser could provide a powerful new forensics tool for the rapid identification of chemical isotopes in situations where this capability is not currently feasible.
