Executive Summary
We are investigating how strong magnetic fields affect the coupling between lasers and plasmas, specifically to obtain analytical formulas for three-wave coupling coefficients and to develop computer software for applying the formulas with variable parameters. Successful results will, for the first time, allow the quantification of the influence of magnetic fields on laser-plasma interactions, which could significantly influence code validation, model improvements, and the design and interpretation of experiments.
