Additive Manufacturing of Post-Detonation Surrogate Debris Reference Materials

Tashi Parsons-Davis | 18-FS-004

Executive Summary

We aim to explore the feasibility of producing surrogate radioactive debris materials with additive manufacturing techniques for assessing current forensics evaluations of a nuclear detonation yield. We will design, build, and test production of these materials tailored to desired atom-to-fission ratios of actinide fuel, fission products, and activation products to generate highly reproducible and uniform samples.
