Executive Summary

We are studying the feasibility of combining spectroscopic techniques with short-pulse laser drilling to access the interior of a threat object to determine its cross-sectional material composition and dimensional profile. If successful, this study will provide the physical basis that enables the development of a successful diagnostic tool for threat object analysis in support of global security missions and nuclear threat reduction.
