Using Microscale Models to Enhance Predictions of Damage to Soft Tissues

Phillip Paul | 19-FS-070

Executive Summary

Our goal is to determine the feasibility of using microscale models to predict the nature and extent of damage to soft-tissue systems subjected to a mechanical impulse and to describe the recoverable and non-recoverable behavior of soft tissues. If successful, such models may serve as an essential building block linking the physics of acute tissue insult to the presentation of symptoms in traumatic brain injury in patients.
