Dating Alluvial Landforms to Understand the Role of Climate in California's Water Supply

Executive Summary

We are combining soil stratigraphy data with cosmogenic exposure dating to obtain robust chronologies for alluvial deposits in California to determine if they are related to wet climate periods. If successful, this research will demonstrate the utility of using alluvial deposits as records of climate change and water supply, which can then be applied to the evaluation of potential disruptions to future water security.
