Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances Removal from Water by Plasmonic-Photocatalysis

Allan Chang | 20-FS-049

Executive Summary

We will study the feasibility of using a new technology, photocatalysts incorporated with plasmonic nanostructures, to enhance the degradation of per- and polyfluoroalkyl contaminants found in water. This study is a first step toward addressing an immediate need from the water treatment industry and multiple government agencies in removing these widespread, toxic substances from contaminated water, a task difficult to achieve by conventional means.
