Plasma Photonics: Manipulating Light Using Plasmas

Pierre Michel | 18-ERD-046

Executive Summary

We propose to develop a concept for next-generation optical systems for high-power lasers in which crystal components, which are subject to damage, are functionally replaced by plasma. This energy-increasing innovation supports national missions in inertial confinement fusion and nuclear stockpile stewardship.
