Executive Summary
We are developing a novel approach to combating infectious disease using synthetic antibacterial mineral mixtures as an alternative to traditional antibiotic treatments. Based on clays that have been shown to have antibacterial properties, we will synthesize mineral mixtures with tunable metal-ion release and reactive oxygen-species generation that are capable of killing human pathogens and promoting wound healing.
