Executive Summary

We are investigating mitigation strategies for heat-caused damage to the optical components in diode-pumped, advectively cooled gas lasers, including the use of a protective inert gas curtain and the identification of the chemical mechanisms that cause damage. This research helps improve the effectiveness and robustness of laser systems relevant to national security missions and industrial applications.
