Solid-State Gamma-Ray Detection Using Quantum Dots
Tom Nakotte | 22-LW-054
Executive Summary
We will research a new class of solid-state gamma-ray detectors based on lead selenide quantum dots, which offer the possibility of producing large-area detectors with improved energy resolution when compared to plastic/organic scintillators. If successful, this detector would be vital to homeland security efforts and could be fabricated at a fraction of the cost of single-crystal detectors.
