Expanding Control of Quantum Processor Units

Jonathan DuBois | 19-ERD-013

Executive Summary

We seek to demonstrate that using recently developed quantum processing units could transform and accelerate scientific computing in the post-exascale era. Such quantum hardware could exponentially speed up the simulation of quantum systems as well as calculations requiring the solving of linear systems of equations--two applications which, combined, represent most of the computational resources used annually by the Department of Energy.
