Engineering Yeast Biosensors for Pathogen Detection

Tek Hyung Lee | 20-LW-020

Executive Summary

We will develop a highly sensitive, whole-cell biosensor by constructing a versatile synthetic membrane receptor in yeast for detecting various peptide and protein biomarkers associated with infectious diseases. This biosensor, which has the potential to detect any biomarker, is a big step toward building a portable biomarker detection device broadly applicable to the early diagnosis of infectious disease and early warning of bioterrorism.
