Using Nano-Structured Targets and Ultra-Intense Lasers for Nuclear Science and Source Development

Executive Summary

We are developing a neutron source platform using laser-irradiated nano-structured targets to generate rare nuclear data in extremely hot, nearly solid plasma. This source of intense, ultra-fast neutrons can be used to make calculations and conduct experiments in support of stockpile stewardship and other national security missions.
