Nuclear Reaction Theory in the Precision Era: Probing New Physics in the Early Universe

Konstantinos Kravvaris | 20-LW-046

Executive Summary

We are developing a framework based on uncertainty quantification to evaluate the cross section of the beryllium-7/lithium-7 charge-exchange reaction. Successful results will resolve the present discrepancy between experimental data sets for this cross section and establish a new gold standard for the evaluation of low-energy light-nuclei reactions that are critical for probing new physics in the early universe and that have applications to stockpile stewardship.
