Developing Compositional Control During Additive Manufacturing of Surrogate Debris Reference Materials and Microanalytical Standards

Tashi Parsons-Davis | 20-ERD-021

Executive Summary

We will develop feedstock synthesis and advanced electrophoretic deposition techniques for three-dimensional compositional control of materials containing up to 60 elements simultaneously, leading to the first additively manufactured microanalytical standard reference materials and realistic solid-phase surrogate nuclear debris reference materials. These reference materials are needed to support post-detonation nuclear forensics and other nuclear threat reduction efforts.
