Nanoscale Precision Milling with Ion Beams

Executive Summary
The goal of this project is to establish the scientific basis for precision ion milling of carbon- and boron-based materials for the fabrication of next generation targets for high-power laser experiments by understanding the relationship between milling conditions and material response. The outcome of this project will provide guiding principles for the development of precision ion beam milling protocols to enable future high-power laser experiments that are beyond the current capabilities.
