Executive Summary
We will develop an engineered biosynthetic pathway to convert serine, a biorenewable substrate, to glycolonitrile, an important precursor in the synthesis of high energy materials. This biosynthetic pathway has the potential to be scaled and thus contribute toward a robust, environmentally friendly, domestic supply chain for glycolonitrile.
