Phosphate fertilizer is a crucial resource for food and energy security, but the United States is projected to run out of phosphorus reserves in 30 years. Our goal is to ultimately develop a biological system that converts unavailable organic phosphorus to bioavailable phosphorus for biomass and biofuel production.
