Addressing Key Physics Problems in High-Energy-Density Plasmas with a Novel Kinetic Simulation Capability

Executive Summary

Our goal is to further develop and use a high-fidelity simulation capability to advance our understanding of physics important to inertial confinement fusion and dense Z-pinch experiments. Using a new code that includes first-principles physics, this work will improve the Lab’s predictive capabilities for future experiments that are important for maintaining stockpile stewardship and for achieving fusion ignition.
