Putting the Super Back In Supernova

Executive Summary

We will determine the contribution of the weak rapid neutron capture process occurring in Supernovae to the galactic abundance of elements, by measuring one of the most impactful reactions, strontium reacting to become zirconium, using a combination of irradiation and Accelerator Mass Spectrometry. This measurement would establish the irradiation-Accelerator Mass Spectrometry procedure, enabling an expanded nuclear reaction measurement program.
