Accurate Temperature Determination from X-Ray Diffraction and X-Ray Absorption Measurements

Federica Coppari | 18-ERD-001

Executive Summary

Because temperature is of fundamental importance in high-energy-density science but currently extremely difficult to measure experimentally, we are developing a method for determining temperature from x-ray diffraction and other measurements of condensed matter at high pressure. This research will impact many fields, including astronomy, materials science, and nuclear weapons science.
