Climate-Driven Changes to Host Nutrition May Impact the Emergence and Phenotype of Viral Variants

Executive Summary

Our goal is to anticipate effects of climate change on viral evolution and increase understanding of viral emergence and pathogenicity changes due to mineral deficiency related to climate change or habitat destruction. Understanding the role of nutrient availability on viral variant emergence and the severity of emergent phenotypes will enable targeted intervention for ecosystems and human populations that are most affected by these changes.
