New Design for Low-Mode Asymmetry Mitigation in Inertial Confinement Fusion Implosions

Executive Summary

We will develop a novel laser hohlraum geometry with a drive symmetry that relies mainly on radiation transport rather than plasma evolution and laser energy deposition. If feasible, this design could enhance national efforts in inertial confinement fusion by enabling an increase in capsule scale and higher hohlraum radiation temperatures.
