Development of a Multidimensional, Holographic Velocity Interferometer System
Peter Celliers | 20-ERD-050
Executive Summary
We are developing a new, multidimensional, holographic velocity interferometer system to measure the velocity of laser targets, with the capability of tracking a feature of interest (such as a crack on a fast-moving surface encountered on exploding or imploding objects) and measuring the velocity over a centimeter-scale range of motion. If successful, this system could become a key diagnostic in support of the next generation of hydrodynamic experiments in support of stockpile stewardship and weapons science.
