Foam Fills for Laser-Plasma Instability Suppression
Peter Amendt | 21-ERD-041
Executive Summary
We are developing techniques for using additively manufactured foams to create density and material profiles inside laser-heated hohlraums that absorb more radiation drive energy. If successful, this technique would enable the indirectly-driven inertial confinement fusion capsule yields exceeding one megajoule that are crucial to achieving fusion ignition.
