Ultrafast Operation of High-Average-Power, High-Energy Thulium Lasers

Executive Summary

We will develop the capabilities of a laser material that supports high-energy, high-average-power generation of energetic short pulses to demonstrate a laser that is greater than one order of magnitude above the current state-of-the-art. These lasers will generate secondary sources of radiation and particles that are essential to stockpile stewardship.
